Under the supervision of the Program Director, the OT Supervisor I directs the day to day operations of the occupational staff on the assigned inpatient unit. The Occupational Therapist Supervisor I will demonstrate support of HHH mission and vision and to assist with therapy staff needs and to utilize effective methods of skill development to assure therapy staff growth; Assists the Program Director to set priorities for patient care program on a continual basis based on the patient’s needs, unit census, and staffing; Assists the Program Director to maintain clinical expertise in patient care techniques through ongoing continuing education; Acts as a resource and professional role model for all therapy staff; Assists the Program Director to monitor all patient care programs for appropriateness of level and type of intervention; Demonstrates superior clinical skill defined by therapy staff Job Descriptions, which ably serves as an example of expected therapist performance; Treats and evaluates all patient populations with expertise in the unit assigned and or where coverage is needed; Completes all unit and staff training, competencies and annual performance evaluations; Ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and services, requiring strong leadership, excellent communication, organization and problem solving skills, as well as understanding of MCR guidelines and conditions for inpatient rehab. Other duties as assigned.



Requirements

Possession of a license and current registration as an occupational therapist in New York State, and three years of post-licensure physical therapy experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

-At least (4-5) years of inpatient rehabilitation experience both neuro and non neuro diagnosis.

-Supervisory experience, strong organizational and communication skills and demonstrates the ability to deal well under pressure.

-Demonstrates strong interpersonal and leadership skills that promote high quality team performance as well as positive outcomes with other departments.

-Demonstrates awareness of how others are affected by their own actions as well as consistent behavior that supports the future development/vision of the programs.

-Maintains objectivity in problem solving and in supporting group decisions.

-Facilitates a positive work environment thru their actions and leadership.

Must demonstrate previous and or ongoing education/training/program development in any area of practice.
