Responsibilities
The Certified Medical/Dental Coding Specialist will verify diagnoses, CPT/CDT codes, modifiers and HCPCS codes prior to claims being submitted to the insurance company. This role requires knowledge over multiple spaces including:
· Verify diagnosis and treatment codes for all patient visits
· Verify modifiers and HCPCS codes for all patient visits
· Complete prior authorizations on all procedures as required
· Enter PMPM payments into RCM module
· Assist Administrative Service Manager with daily close and deposit.
· Assist clinicians in completion of forms if durable medical equipment is needed
· Monitor accounts receivable and inform ASM of status
· Assist guardians with the completion of financial questionnaires and documents
· Send out monthly statements to guardians and answer any billing questions
· Review day end, month end, and year end reports to ensure accuracy
· Cross train in dental coding and billing and obtain certification if not certified
· Stay up to day on new codes each year and new billing guidelines from CMS
· Assist with educating clinicians yearly for new codes and billing updates
· Complete monthly coding/billing audit
· Assist data analyst in compiling information needed for insurance contracts
Requirements
· 2 years’ experience in medical coding and billing
· Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS-P)
· Experience in multidisciplinary physicians office, psychiatric, specialty medicine, therapeutic services (PT, OT, SLP) and dental coding
· Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and private pay insurances
· Knowledge of value based care model of care
· Experience with patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
