Job Summary
Taurus Power and Controls - a Pacific Northern Environmental LLC Company, is seeking a Field Studies Technician who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service to our company, clients, and employees.
Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of five divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (Taurus), Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. In addition, we carry out projects across the United States.
Since 1985, Taurus has been designing control systems, automating tasks, and fabricating control panels for industrial, municipal, and commercial customers-on time and on budget. Taurus is a NETA Accredited Company that offers full-service, third party, independent testing for all electrically powered systems and equipment. Being a 24/7 field service company remains at the core of what we do. We have expertise in a wide array of systems and industries, whether its servicing projects we developed, or systems built by others.
The Power Studies Engineer is responsible for conducting power studies utilizing SKM Power Tools, EasyPower and ETAP to complete short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies within our growing team of dedicated and experienced engineers.
Education and Experience Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Valid US Drivers License.
AAS or BS degree in electrical engineering or industrial electronics preferred.
FE or PE a plus.
Must be able to read and understand one-line, three-line diagrams, bill of materials, equipment submittals for low voltage (600V and below) and medium voltage (15kV 600V) equipment.
Experience in power system modelling software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
Good understanding of power distribution and electrical components through education or previous experiences.
Understanding the Hazards in work around electrical components through education or previous experiences.
Strong technical writing skills and use of Microsoft Office tools.
Effectively manage time spent on multiple projects simultaneously to meet project schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Power Studies Engineer possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:
Safely operate and maintain company and/or personal vehicles as required for job duties, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies
Utilize power modeling software to conduct short circuit, and arc flash studies.
Create protective device settings for both breakers and relays for industrial power systems.
Occasional field trips to complete data entry of existing equipment, approximately 5%.
Working collaboratively and individually managing time and tasks.
Must be able to work at our office in Tualatin, OR.
Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:
Move about the jobsite as needed.
Move work related equipment up to 50lbs.
Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
Operate various technological devices, including but not limited to a computer.
Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and/or stairs.
