Reports To: President/CEO

Status: Full-Time: Salary Exempt

Hours: 40–50 hours per week average; flexibility required for nights, weekends, and travel

The Senior Director, Creative Event Production serves as the senior creative authority for live events and experiential productions, responsible for leading creative vision, overseeing departmental performance, and ensuring successful execution of scenic, media, and visual elements from concept through onsite delivery. This position partners closely with Sales, Production, Warehouse, and Executive Leadership to ensure concepts are compelling, operationally sound, financially responsible, and scalable. This role blends executive-level creative leadership with operational awareness and business alignment to support client satisfaction and revenue growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but are not limited to…)

Creative Vision & Event Leadership

  • Define and lead creative direction for live events, including general sessions, corporate meetings, conventions, and experiential productions.
  • Translate client objectives into cohesive event concepts encompassing scenic design, stage environments, motion content, media integration, and overall audience experience.
  • Provide senior-level oversight from concept development through rehearsals and live execution, serving as the final creative decision-maker for event-related design and visual strategy.

Sales Alignment & Proposal Development

  • Partner with Sales leadership to support RFP responses, proposals, and creative presentations.
  • Develop conceptual strategies and visual narratives that strengthen proposal competitiveness and support revenue growth.
  • Ensure proposed creative solutions align with production capabilities, scenic inventory, labor planning, and budget parameters.
  • Participate in client consultations, site visits, and presentations as a senior creative representative, maintaining alignment between sales commitments and creative execution.

Scenic Planning, Installation & Inventory Strategy

  • Collaborate with Production Managers and Warehouse leadership to plan scenic installation, strike, and logistics, ensuring designs account for installation sequencing, venue constraints, labor requirements, and load-in/load-out schedules.
  • Maintain oversight of scenic readiness and production timelines.
  • Partner with Warehouse leadership to maintain visibility into scenic rental stock and reusable assets.
  • Guide strategic planning for scenic inventory investments, lifecycle management, and asset utilization.
  • Ensure clear documentation and coordination for installation, removal, and storage processes.

Operational Oversight & Accountability

  • Maintain full visibility into creative scope, timelines, and progress across active projects.
  • Ensure creative work is properly resourced, prioritized, and advancing according to schedule.
  • Anticipate risks and resolve challenges to maintain forward momentum.
  • Align creative ambition with operational feasibility and fiscal responsibility, establishing clear accountability standards for quality, deliverables, and performance.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management of the creative department.
  • Establish clear roles, workflow standards, and expectations across disciplines.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and professional growth
  • Support skill development and succession planning within the creative team.
  • Identify when external creative or specialty resources are appropriate and oversee their integration.

Strategic Development & Business Alignment

  • Partner with Executive Leadership to align creative services with long-term company strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance creative offerings and expand service capabilities.
  • Refine creative processes to support scalability, efficiency, and consistent delivery standards.
  • Contribute to positioning the organization as a leader in creative event production within corporate and hospitality markets.

Physical Demands:

Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Use of hands, reaching, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, and kneeling required. Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Must have close, distance, color, and depth vision with ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Duties are performed in office, warehouse, and live event environments, including outdoors as conditions require. Noise levels vary from minimal to loud depending on event phase.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • 8–12+ years of experience in live events, experiential design, or event-focused creative leadership.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing multidisciplinary creative teams.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting RFP development, proposal strategy, client presentations, and delivery of large-scale corporate events or general sessions.

Education / Training:

Bachelor’s degree in Live Event Production, Experiential Design, Media Production, Theatre, or related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.

Helpful Skills & Proficiency:

  • Understanding of scenic fabrication workflows and installation sequencing.
  • Familiarity with CAD and/or 3D rendering platforms.
  • Experience with motion graphics and event media pipelines.
  • Knowledge of rental inventory systems and asset lifecycle planning.
  • Strong presentation and executive communication skills.
