Job Description

The Chemist supports all areas of distillery operations—distilling, processing, and bottling—from a quality and analytical perspective. This role performs laboratory testing, operates analytical equipment, manages sample retention, and partners with the quality team to ensure products meet all quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support distillery, processing, bottling, and warehouse operations through analytical testing and quality oversight.
  • Perform testing on distillery, fermentation, processing, and finished-product samples.
  • Operate and troubleshoot analytical equipment including YSI, DMA, GC, and GC/MS.
  • Analyze and document results accurately, reporting findings to the quality team.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for laboratory instruments and testing methods.
  • Manage the sample retention facility, including organization, labeling, and disposal of expired samples.
  • Participate in daily sensory evaluations and product tastings.
  • Travel between two production facilities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science.
  • 4+ years of experience in an analytical or quality control laboratory.
  • Hands-on experience with YSI, DMA, GC, and GC/MS instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of lab safety, sample handling, and documentation.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs repetitively.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Experience

  • Quality control experience in manufacturing, distilling, or beverage production.
  • Ability to train and support others on analytical equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with sensory testing.

Work Environment

  • Fully on-site role in laboratory, production, and warehouse environments.
  • Regular movement between departments and two plant locations.
  • Exposure to standard manufacturing conditions, including noise and temperature changes.
  • PPE required per safety and quality guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Clermont, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $33.00/hr.
