Client Overview:
Our client is a laboratory/food production facility looking to add a Microbiology Laboratory Technician to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$18/hr - $20/hr DOE

Position Overview:
The Microbiology Laboratory Technician supports food safety and quality by performing microbiological testing and maintaining lab standards. It requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities of the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:

  • Prepare and test raw, in-process, and finished product samples.
  • Document results and follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  • Review test results and manage product holds/releases.
  • Perform bacterial identifications, pipetting, and maintain the lab database.
  • Sterilize biohazards and handle sample pickups.
  • Support lab quality control and equipment checks.
  • Follow GMPs and report any safety or quality concerns.
  • Attend safety meetings and comply with all safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience/Skills for the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:

  • Flexible schedule (open to working weekends)
  • Must wear PPE (hair nets, earplugs, earmuffs)
  • Occasional bending, standing, stooping, pushing, pulling
  • Frequent sitting and can lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to temperature/humidity changes
  • Experience with loud and wet areas in a large manufacturing plant.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:

  • Strong multitasking and learning ability.
  • Comfortable working with diverse personalities.
  • Good communication and basic math skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate's degree is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
