Client Overview:
Our client is a laboratory/food production facility looking to add a Microbiology Laboratory Technician to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$18/hr - $20/hr DOE
Position Overview:
The Microbiology Laboratory Technician supports food safety and quality by performing microbiological testing and maintaining lab standards. It requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Responsibilities of the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:
- Prepare and test raw, in-process, and finished product samples.
- Document results and follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
- Review test results and manage product holds/releases.
- Perform bacterial identifications, pipetting, and maintain the lab database.
- Sterilize biohazards and handle sample pickups.
- Support lab quality control and equipment checks.
- Follow GMPs and report any safety or quality concerns.
- Attend safety meetings and comply with all safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience/Skills for the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:
- Flexible schedule (open to working weekends)
- Must wear PPE (hair nets, earplugs, earmuffs)
- Occasional bending, standing, stooping, pushing, pulling
- Frequent sitting and can lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to temperature/humidity changes
- Experience with loud and wet areas in a large manufacturing plant.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:
- Strong multitasking and learning ability.
- Comfortable working with diverse personalities.
- Good communication and basic math skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
Education Requirements:
- Associate's degree is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
