We are a national staffing firm and are currently seeking an Assistant Buyer for a prominent client of ours. This position is based in Cortland, NY. Details for the position are as follows:
Job Description:
- Pay: $30–$33/hr to start
- Duration: 2-month assignment with potential extension based on performance and budget
- Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Onsite
- Assist buyers in procuring both productive and non-productive materials and services, managing purchase orders, invoices, and vendor communications to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
- Maintain and update records of supplier prices, terms, and reliable vendor lists, while responding to internal inquiries regarding vendor information, pricing, and material availability.
- Independently handle routine purchasing decisions within established policies and procedures, escalate unusual or questionable issues to supervision, and follow up on rejected or defective materials to resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant purchasing or procurement experience required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Lotus Notes or similar email communication tools
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle, is required
