Summary

This position is primarily responsible for oversight of resident’s medical needs daily and also includes documentation of self-medication monitored by the LPN of whom they supervise. This position reports to the Residential Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designing of training and care plans programs.
  • Medication self-medication monitoring.
  • Administer medication and regulate participant treatment.
  • Provision of physical and emotional support for participants and their families.
  • Access participant physical health and seek resources to diagnosis, treat, and monitor.
  • Access participant’s readiness to change and provision of support, as well as, education along the way.
  • Counseling and rehabilitation: give support and dealing with the causes of chemical dependency misuse.
  • Needle exchange: provision of clean sharps and give advice on how to use chemicals safely to reduce harm to self and society.
  • Conduct risk assessments.
  • Provision of ongoing support for participants while they deal with their chemical dependency misuse issues.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • As is relative to OASAS regulations: The RN must hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.
  • Must have at least 1-2 years of experience working in the field of chemical dependency.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, obtain clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services and be chemical dependency free.
