Job DescriptionCardiology - Physician Position Overview

This role is for a Cardiology Physician who will function as both a clinical Non-Invasive Cardiologist and a Medical Director with a focus on advanced cardiac imaging. Key responsibilities include providing patient care, developing and expanding advanced imaging services, ensuring quality assurance, collaborating across disciplines, educating staff, and offering strategic leadership within our organization. Candidates should possess significant expertise in cardiac MRI, CT, and nuclear imaging, along with strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to meeting organizational and accreditation standards.

Position Details:

  • FTE: 0.8 Clinical + 0.2 Medical Directorship
  • Salary: Ranges from $550,000 to $670,000 annually

The Medical Director will engage in clinical responsibilities as a general Non-Invasive Cardiologist, specializing in Advanced Imaging Interpretation. Duties will include:

  • Providing patient care through clinic visits, diagnostic evaluations, and inpatient coverage.
  • Driving the advancement and growth of the Advanced Imaging Program.
  • Working closely with the echo lab medical director to uphold high-quality standards for cardiac MRI, CT, and echocardiography while ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Aligning all medical programs with our organization's standards for quality care and ensuring adherence to guidelines by physicians and advanced practice clinicians (APCs).
  • Collaborating with regional leadership and a dyad partner to formulate and execute strategic plans, assist in recruiting medical staff, and keep clinic personnel informed about organizational strategies and responses to current challenges.
  • Sharing responsibility for financial performance targets and compliance with accreditation standards and organizational policies.

Key Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Direction & Program Development: Create and implement a roadmap for advanced imaging that aligns with our cardiovascular strategy.
  • Lead the introduction and expansion of Cardiac PET and enhance cardiac MRI/CT programs to address changing patient needs.
  • Clinical Excellence & Quality Assurance: Maintain Level III standards for cardiac CT/MRI and other imaging modalities.
  • Establish comprehensive quality programs to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, and radiology to support advanced procedures (e.g., TAVR, Mitral/Tricuspid interventions).
  • Develop protocols for imaging in chest pain cases in emergency and inpatient settings; optimize imaging for structural heart and complex interventions.
  • Education & Research Leadership: Mentor physicians and APCs; create fellowship opportunities in advanced imaging.
  • Promote clinical research initiatives and foster academic partnerships to position our organization as a hub for innovation.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Licensed Cardiologist in the State of Washington.
  • Member of the medical staff in good standing.
  • Board-certified in the relevant specialty.
  • Possession of necessary drug licenses.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing Cardiologist with Level III competency in cardiac MRI, CT, and nuclear imaging.
  • Participating provider status with Medicare and Medicaid Programs.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience as a Medical Director in similar programs.

Compensation: The salary range is between $550,000 and $670,000 per year. This may include productivity or quality/service incentives, call pay, and extra shift incentives, as applicable. Additionally, continuing medical education (CME) benefits may be available.
