Our client seeks multiple Career Education Specialist’s to join their team in multiple locations in the state of Iowa, including Harlan, Glidden, Oelwein, the Des Moines Metro area and more.
This is a direct hire opportunity where you will earn up to $50,000 per year, based on your experience. You will follow school calendar/breaks and have 5 weeks of paid time off in July and August.
Some of your responsibilities as Career Education Specialist will include:
- Partnering with school administration to identify and select students fitting program criteria, ensuring seamless progression from district feeder programs
- Building and sustaining a vibrant student cohort while promoting it within the school’s community
- Conducting outreach efforts and informational sessions for prospective students and families to explain the benefits and opportunities provided
- Utilizing competency-based approach to steer project creation and cultivate a student-centered learning environment
- Instilling the importance of organizational and time management skills that students will need to succeed
- Enriching students practical understanding and skills
- Introducing project-based learning methodologies to develop engaging and transformative educational journeys
- Developing and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment that promotes student engagement and participation through effective classroom management strategies, adapting techniques to meet the diverse needs of learners and ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities
- Implementing effective behavior management plans and conflict resolution strategies to cultivate a safe, respectful classroom culture
- Cultivating an inclusive learning environment that encourages teamwork and community building
- Providing guidance and support to ensure that students complete their work on time and to a high standard
- Maintaining accurate student records
- Analyzing data to evaluate the impact of the program
- Managing and updating Individual Development Plans and Individualized Educational Plans for students
- Implementing comprehensive work-based learning programs that integrate academic learning with practical workplace experiences
- Introducing students to a variety of careers through interactive workshops and guest speaker sessions
- Cultivating community resources and developing partnerships that support the educational experience and new pathways for students
- Collaborating with the program supervisor and school administration to drive success of the program
- Other duties as assigned
To be considered for the Career Education Specialist position, you must have a demonstrated proficiency in delivering content to diverse audiences, and adapting teaching styles to meet the various needs of students. In addition, you must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Counseling, Education, or a closely related field is essential (Master’s Degree preferred)
- Expectation to secure a Work-Based Learning (WBL) Supervisor authorization within the first 6 months of employment
- Relevant experience in secondary or post-secondary education environments a plus
- Strong understanding of academic support systems a plus
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong relationship building skills
- Ability to learn new computer software systems
- Skills in leveraging data analytics to refine instructional approaches and enhance student achievement
