Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact across Carbon and Lehigh Counties as an itinerant Special Education teacher, supporting diverse student needs throughout the school year. This contract opportunity follows the academic calendar from August 10, 2026, through June 11, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week. Assignments are in-person only. You’ll primarily serve as a dedicated substitute, covering absences across various sites within a designated county. When not actively subbing, you’ll contribute directly in one of several classrooms. Extended site assignments are possible during longer absences or leaves.
Ideal candidates have:
- Active Pennsylvania teaching license
- Valid PA PDE Certification—must include one or more of the following: Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, Instructional I, or Instructional II Certificate in appropriate Special Education areas
- Direct experience working with students in special education environments
- Proficiency in participating in the development and implementation of IEPs
- Willingness and ability to commute throughout either Carbon or Lehigh County
- Commitment to in-person work; remote options are not available for these roles
Responsibilities include:
- Providing classroom instruction, accommodations, and support to students with diverse learning needs
- Substituting for absent Special Education staff according to geographic assignment
- Collaborating with educators and families to build and carry out effective IEPs
- Ensuring compliance with all state and federal educational requirements
- Maintaining detailed records and effective communication on student progress
