We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Construction Jobsite Safety Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will conduct multiple jobsite inspections daily, playing a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and teamwork. This position emphasizes being a visible and supportive presence on-site, providing resources and guidance to improve overall jobsite safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily Inspections:
- Conduct multiple thorough jobsite inspections each day.
- Identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
2. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with site supervisors, workers, and other safety professionals to promote a culture of safety.
- Serve as a resource for safety-related questions and concerns.
- Participate in daily site meetings and provide safety updates and feedback.
- Will collaborate, organize, communicate and report to the Safety Manager.
3. Safety Culture Enhancement:
- Develop and implement safety initiatives to improve jobsite safety culture.
- Provide training and resources to crews to enhance their understanding and implementation of safety practices.
- Encourage open communication and feedback regarding safety concerns.
4. Visibility and Availability:
- Maintain a consistent presence on the jobsites to ensure visibility.
- Build rapport with crew members, making them feel comfortable approaching you with safety issues.
- Demonstrate proactive involvement in daily site activities and safety practices.
5. Incident Response and Reporting:
- Respond promptly to safety incidents and near-misses, conducting thorough investigations and follow-ups.
- Document findings and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Report incidents to the Safety Manager and maintain accurate records.
6. Compliance Support:
- Assist in ensuring the jobsite complies with all safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct periodic reviews of safety programs and practices to ensure continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the Safety Manager to develop and update safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related safety field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Construction/Heavy Highway safety or a related field safety role.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive, approachable, and committed to improving safety culture.
Skills:
- Excellent observational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to conduct training sessions and safety meetings.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to navigate various construction sites and environments.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
- Limited night work, 2 nd shift and Saturdays.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily jobsite-based with regular travel between sites.
- Exposure to construction site hazards; proper safety equipment provided.
