Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (Travel)

Location: Albany, NY
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Days
Pay: $2,383.20/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment at a large Level I trauma and teaching hospital. The ideal candidate will be comfortable caring for critically ill patients across multiple ICU specialties, including Neuro/Trauma SICU, MICU, CPS/VICU, and CCU, as well as supporting Progressive Critical Care and overflow ICU/PCC patients in the ED and PACU.

This role requires adaptability, strong critical-thinking skills, and the ability to float between various high-acuity critical care units while maintaining excellent clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe and comprehensive nursing care to patients in a variety of ICU settings, including:
    • Neuro/Trauma ICU
    • Surgical ICU (SICU)
    • Medical ICU (MICU)
    • Cardiothoracic/Progressive ICU (CPS/VICU)
    • Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
    • Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCCU)
  • Manage critically ill patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and titratable infusions
  • Administer and titrate vasoactive, sedative, and paralytic medications
  • Monitor EKG rhythms and interpret complex cardiac and hemodynamic data
  • Respond to rapid response and code blue situations promptly
  • Float between ICU and progressive care areas, including ED and PACU, as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR (required)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care
  • Provide patient and family education regarding care plans and treatments
  • Adhere to hospital safety, infection control, and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Active New York RN license (required at submission)
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in an acute hospital setting (required)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Previous experience in a Level I trauma center strongly preferred
  • Must be comfortable floating to multiple critical care environments (Neuro, MICU, SICU, CCU, PCCU, ED, PACU)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (required)
    • ACLS (required)
    • CCRN or TNCC preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient acuity and unit assignments
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
