Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT), and 1+ year of Cath Lab experience. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Join a dynamic cardiac catheterization lab team in Portsmouth, VA, supporting advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This contract opportunity involves working Monday through Friday with an on-call commitment of at least 14 days, which may include weekends. The role requires a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential and experience assisting cardiologists and vascular physicians in a high-acuity setting equipped with cutting-edge technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with a wide range of cardiac and vascular catheter-based procedures including TAVR, PFO closures, Watchman, atherectomy, angiography, and balloon/stenting interventions.
- Set up, monitor, and operate specialized equipment such as balloon pumps, Impella, IVUS, iFR/FFR, CSI, RotaPro, and laser devices.
- Support electrophysiology studies and ablation procedures by calibrating equipment, prepping patients, monitoring vital signs, and recording diagnostic data.
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment, adhering to radiological safety protocols with appropriate PPE use.
- Perform critical calculations for diagnosis and treatment, accurately monitor ECGs, and respond promptly to patient status changes.
- Handle laboratory inventory management and assist with accurate procedural billing.
- Work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and provide compassionate care to adolescent through geriatric patients.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Vocational/Technical degree in Radiology Technology, Electrophysiology, or related field.
- RCIS certification is mandatory.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Strong analytical and mechanical skills to operate complex medical equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Preferred: Bachelors degree or experience as a Cath Lab Tech or RN in Cardiac Cath Lab.
