Job Title: Highway/Bridge Structural Superintendent (Heavy Civil – Caltrans Projects)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Superintendent with a strong background in heavy civil construction and direct experience working on Caltrans projects. This role is responsible for overseeing field operations, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily field operations for structural scopes (bridges, retaining walls, drainage structures, etc.)
  • Coordinate subcontractors, crews, and material deliveries
  • Ensure strict compliance with Caltrans Standard Specifications, plans, and special provisions
  • Maintain project schedule and proactively identify/resolve delays
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure adherence to company and Caltrans safety requirements
  • Conduct daily field meetings, inspections, and progress tracking
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and stakeholders
  • Review plans, specifications, RFIs, and submittals
  • Monitor quality control and ensure work meets required tolerances and standards
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
  • Proven experience as a Superintendent or Foreman on Caltrans projects
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Caltrans specifications and procedures
    • Structural concrete, falsework, rebar, and formwork systems
    • Bridge construction and/or transportation infrastructure
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors
  • Proficiency in scheduling and construction management practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale public works or DOT projects
  • Familiarity with Caltrans inspection processes and documentation
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Background in CPM scheduling (Primavera P6 or similar)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Hours: Full-time

Location: Various

Compensation: $135,000- $150,000 annually. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, education, credentials, and Licensure when applicable.
