Role – Lean Manufacturing Engineer
Salary – $75,000 - $95,000 per annum
Type – Full-time, Permanent
Location – St. Petersburg, FL
My client is an established manufacturing business operating in a high-output, fast-moving production environment in St. Petersburg, FL.
They are looking to bring on a Quality & Continuous Improvement Engineer to play a key role in elevating manufacturing performance, embedding Lean practices, and enhancing overall product quality across the facility.
This position is suited to a proactive, shop-floor-focused engineer who enjoys solving problems, driving change, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver lasting operational improvements.
The Lean Manufacturing Engineer will have the following attributes:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Lean manufacturing, quality, or continuous improvement engineering role.
- Strong practical experience applying Lean tools such as Kaizen, 6S, and waste reduction techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Good working knowledge of GD&T and metric-based manufacturing environments.
- Comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
- Data-driven mindset with solid analytical and project execution skills.
- Proficient with standard office and reporting tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Clear communicator who can engage effectively with operators, engineers, and leadership.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, and comfortable operating in a changing manufacturing setting.
The Quality / Lean Manufacturing Engineer’s role will involve:
- Driving Lean and quality improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Investigating day-to-day production issues and leading root cause and corrective action efforts.
- Developing, updating, and maintaining quality procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Supporting inspection activities and ensuring measurement and test equipment is properly controlled and calibrated.
- Facilitating Kaizen events and continuous improvement workshops.
- Reviewing and optimizing manufacturing workflows, equipment usage, and facility layouts.
- Evaluating production data and cost trends to establish KPIs and guide improvement priorities.
- Measuring and communicating the financial and operational impact of improvement projects.
- Partnering with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to implement changes.
- Training and mentoring employees on Lean principles, quality tools, and best practices.
Preferred experience includes:
- Background in machining processes and sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion, or DraftSight.
