We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a family-owned business based in La Mesa, California. This contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a business casual environment and enjoys working with a small, collaborative team. The role involves managing day-to-day financial operations and ensuring accurate record-keeping for older, middle-income properties.
Responsibilities:
• Process invoices and handle two check runs monthly, managing approximately 200 checks per run.
• Perform general ledger coding and upload financial documents into the AppFolio system.
• Input and track maintenance data with precision, addressing more complex maintenance-related tasks.
• Manage mortgage payments, automatic payments, tax bills, and year-end tax processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts and review credit card statements for accuracy.
• Handle rent payment processing, including remote deposits, mailed checks, and occasional in-person banking visits.
• Create and organize spreadsheets to maintain accurate financial data.
• Enter journal entries and ensure proper documentation for accounting purposes.
• Collaborate with property managers.
• Proven experience in bookkeeping, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Proficiency in using AppFolio or similar accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and general accounting principles.
• Ability to manage multiple bank accounts and reconcile statements efficiently.
• Familiarity with processing tax documents such as 1099s and managing year-end tax tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills to handle complex maintenance tracking and data entry.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with property managers.
• Broker license is required for this position.
