Simco Mechanical Inc., a growing full-service mechanical contracting firm, is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in construction accounting, cost accounting, and project management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, ServiceTitan, Bill.com, ADP Run, Payroll4Construction, and other accounting systems. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of full cycle accounting, certified payroll, prevailing wages, monthly financial reporting, and strict adherence to accounting processes. This position is on-site in Altadena, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of accounting and compliance in collaboration with and reporting to the CEO.
Direct an accounting and compliance teams with full capabilities.
Oversee accounts payables, accounts receivables, payroll, published reporting integrity and all historical accounting activities.
Actively participate in day-to-day activities such as journal entries, reclassifications, accrual & prepaid management and reconciliations.
Manage strict processes in AR/AP, billing, releases and government compliance.
Produce efficiencies and recreation in processes and control.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
Maintain cost accounting systems to track project profitability.
Streamline construction accounting processes, including job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
Maintain compliance with tax regulations and support tax preparation efforts.
Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of projects.
Supervise and improve the use of QuickBooks Online, project platforms, Bill.com and Payroll 4 Construction for efficient financial management, including a team of four.
Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Provide financial insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
Work in partnership with the parent-companys Controller on processes & procedures and cadenced reporting requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred).
5+ years of experience in a controller or senior accounting role within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and construction accounting best practices. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, ServiceTitan, Payroll 4 Construction and Bill.com.
Experience with tax preparation, financial reporting, and compliance.
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
