Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and diligent Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to be responsible for administering medications and providing high-quality personal care to residents in a personal care memory care facility. This role combines medication management with hands-on caregiving, ensuring residents’ safety, comfort, and dignity while supporting individuals with cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer medications to residents as prescribed by their physicians
- Monitor residents’ medication intake and document all medication administration activities
- Maintain accurate records of all medications, including ordering, storing, and disposing of medications as necessary
- Ensure proper storage of medications and label all medications properly
- Report any adverse reactions to medications and changes in a resident’s condition to the proper supervisor
- Participate in ongoing training and continuing education programs to remain current on all medication administration regulations
- Ensure that all medications are in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Caregiving / Resident Support:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Provide support during meals
- Monitor residents’ physical and emotional well-being
- Respond promptly to call lights and resident needs
- Assist with transfers and ambulation
Memory Care Support:
- Engage residents in structured activities and routines
- Provide redirection and reassurance to residents experiencing confusion or behavioral changes
- Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment
- Follow individualized care plans tailored to residents with dementia
CMA II Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid CMA with CMA II certification in the state of Kentucky
- One year of CMA experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current CPR certification
- Flexible schedule, including availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to new environments
