Job Description
This role focuses on installing, terminating, inspecting, and troubleshooting electrical connectors and wiring on advanced aircraft systems. You will work from detailed engineering drawings and wiring diagrams to perform high‑quality avionics wiring and connector tasks that meet stringent aerospace and defense standards. The position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to high‑visibility aircraft programs while working in a structured, safety‑driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and inspect electrical connectors on a wide range of aircraft systems and avionics equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to perform accurate wiring and connector work.
- Perform continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, and torqueing of connectors to verify proper installation and electrical performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair connector‑related issues in avionics systems, including identifying defects, performing corrective actions, and documenting repairs.
- Ensure all electrical installations and modifications meet applicable aerospace and defense standards and specifications.
- Route, handle, and secure wire harnesses, including shielded, coaxial, and fiber optic cables, in accordance with engineering and process requirements.
- Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and associated components to ensure reliability and environmental protection.
- Use appropriate tooling assemblies, fixtures, and hand and power tools to perform connector installation, repair, and modification tasks.
- Conduct thorough visual, operational, and quality checks on completed work to confirm compliance with technical orders and quality standards.
- Interpret and follow technical orders, process specifications, and work instructions with high attention to detail and safety.
- Collaborate with engineering and other technical staff to resolve complex wiring and connector issues.
- For roles, lead small teams, provide guidance and mentoring to junior technicians, and interface with engineering staff on technical matters.
- Support work across multiple shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required to meet program schedules.
- Maintain required security clearance and adhere to all security, safety, and regulatory requirements while working on sensitive aircraft programs.
Essential Skills
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in avionics or electrical connector work for Level II roles.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in avionics or electrical systems with advanced connector expertise for Level III roles.
- Strong electrical aptitude and hands‑on experience with aviation electronics and electrical wiring.
- Proficiency with MIL‑SPEC connectors and aerospace wiring standards.
- Experience with wire harness routing, handling, and installation on aircraft.
- Experience with connector terminations, including shielded wire, coaxial cable, and fiber optic wiring termination.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Ability to interpret technical orders and process specifications and apply them accurately in daily work.
- Proficiency in performing continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, torqueing of connectors, and other standard electrical tests.
- Ability to perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses to meet quality and environmental requirements.
- Ability to perform thorough visual, operational, and quality checks on electrical and avionics work.
- Skilled use of hand and power tools, as well as tooling assemblies and fixtures for repair and modification.
- Ability to work independently, follow detailed instructions, and consistently adhere to safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality, compliant work.
- Ability to work across multiple shifts, weekends, holidays, and support overtime as needed.
- Ability to hold or maintain an active Secret security clearance, including Interim Secret if required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in troubleshooting complex avionics or electrical issues and mentoring junior technicians (for Level III).
- Experience with military or commercial aircraft platforms and associated avionics systems.
- Experience with aircraft modification or depot‑level maintenance environments.
- Prior experience supporting high‑visibility aircraft programs is highly beneficial.
- Ability to lead small technical teams and interface effectively with engineering staff and other stakeholders.
- IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 or equivalent certification in cable and wire harness assembly.

Work Environment
You will work onsite inside an aircraft hangar at a major Air Force base, performing hands‑on tasks on operational aircraft in a secure facility. The schedule typically runs Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with voluntary overtime available to support program needs. The environment is highly regulated and safety‑driven, with strict adherence to aerospace, defense, and security requirements, including the need for an active Secret security clearance. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, specialized tooling assemblies, and fixtures to perform wiring, connector, and modification tasks on aircraft. Work is performed around aircraft structures, systems, and ground support equipment, requiring consistent attention to safety procedures, tool control, and quality standards.

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
