Job Summary: An Overflow Inventory Lead assists the shift lead. They help maintain order throughout the shift and provide direction in the absence of the shift lead. Inventory Leads are also responsible for counting, ordering, maintaining and organizing Overflow inventory, and other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the shift lead or the site manager.

Requirements:

All Overflow staff are a team and should operate as a united front!

  • Assist the shift lead in keeping Switchpoint standards during the shift
  • Responsible for taking charge of the shift in absence of the lead.
  • Collaboration with other assistant leads is crucial.
  • May receive authority from shift lead or site manager to handle disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain transparency and communicate frequently with supervisor regarding things related to the daily operations of the shelter, oversees the shift workflow of the shelter.
  • Keep daily notes updated
  • Document employee concerns or strengths and report those to supervisor.
  • Maintain your duties as support staff, completing side work along with the duties of the area you are assigned to.
  • Handle client complaints as best as possible, redirecting them to other management as needed.
  • Support and train staff as needed.
  • De-escalate issues between staff. Work to ensure that all situations are treated fairly and without bias.
  • Hold both clients, staff, and yourself accountable to the rules of the facility. Document infractions.
  • Participate in Leadership meetings as needed.

Inventory

  • Collaborating with leads to keep track of all current supply inventory
  • Prepare order for needed supplies – notifying Finance, Site Manager and Shift Lead
  • Keep track of Overflow supply orders arriving at the site.
  • Collaborate with other leads, the site manager, and the finance department about any orders made or enroute to the site.
  • At minimum, do a weekly inventory count to ensure supplies are not running low and report the count to the Finance Dept.
  • Alert Site Manager when any supplies are running low to ensure an order is placed in a timely manner.
  • Hold yourself and other staff accountable for supply usage to ensure we are not using supplies wastefully.
  • Monitor supplies throughout your shift including bathrooms, stations, etc. to ensure they are adequate.
  • As an assistant lead, you may be asked to do one or all of these responsibilities depending on the needs of the facility and the availability of other staff

Qualifications & Key Skills

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Human Services or a similar field.
  • Previous experience working with the homeless population in a shelter environment is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues.
  • Exhibits a positive and compassionate attitude, sensitivity, and the ability to work well with others in a close residential setting.
  • Model positive behavior, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to use sound judgment during times of crisis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google Docs.
  • Commitment to serving homeless families and to the mission, vision, and guiding principles of Switchpoint.
