About the Role:
The Amtrak Construction Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and directing large-scale rail infrastructure projects across the United States. This position is responsible for ensuring that construction activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. The Construction Manager will coordinate with multiple stakeholders including engineers, contractors, government agencies, and internal teams to facilitate seamless project execution. They will lead efforts to manage resources, mitigate risks, and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process. Ultimately, this role ensures the successful delivery of infrastructure improvements that enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Amtrak’s rail network.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects, preferably in rail or transportation infrastructure.
- Proven knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations applicable to rail infrastructure.
- Strong project management skills, including experience with scheduling software and budget management.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearances or certifications relevant to rail operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
- Experience working with federal, state, and local transportation agencies.
- Familiarity with Amtrak operations, standards, and regulatory environment.
- Advanced knowledge of contract administration and negotiation.
- Experience with environmental compliance and sustainability practices in construction.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and supervise all phases of construction projects related to rail infrastructure, including track, bridges, stations, and related facilities.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of construction activities.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to monitor work quality, address challenges, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including reports, contracts, change orders, and compliance records.
- Lead and mentor construction teams, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and ensure safety.
- Communicate project status, challenges, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders effectively.
