Title - Finance Specialist
Location - Rochester, NY (Hybrid)
Pay - $60,000 - $70,000
Job Summary
We are looking for a Finance Specialist to take ownership of day-to-day accounting and financial operations for a small but growing organization. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable being the go-to person for AP, AR, bookkeeping, and financial reporting. You’ll manage the core accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, and support leadership with timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Daily Finance Operations
- Handle full-cycle AP and AR, including invoice processing, collections, and vendor management
- Maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Process payroll or coordinate with payroll provider as needed
- Manage month-end and year-end close activities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare internal financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries
- Assist with budgeting and expense tracking
- Monitor financial accuracy and ensure organized documentation
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with company policies and basic accounting standards
- Maintain internal controls and support audits or year-end review with external accountants
- Organize financial records and support tax-related documentation
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with leadership on financial questions and spending visibility
- Support vendors, employees, and internal teams with finance-related inquiries
- Help implement or streamline accounting processes and systems
Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience
- 2–5 years of hands-on accounting experience (AP/AR, bookkeeping, or general accounting)
- Experience in a small business or “solo accounting” environment preferred
Skills & Attributes
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Comfortable owning accounting responsibilities independently
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
