Southern Foodservice Management Inc, a national contract food service provider is now looking to hire a Cook for our corporate dining facility NPTU Café Charleston location in Goose Creek, SC 29445.
This base is very secure but fun to place to work a clean background check is required to get a badge to come on base. This is a busy fast paced environment; we serve military students and civilian contractors.
This location is open 24 hours, and the shift hours are 4:00pm-12:30am. Must be available weekends as well as weekdays.
The pay range is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.
In this position you will be responsible for preparing and serving entrees, side dishes, soups and preparing grab and go items more with a focus on providing the best quality food and service every day. Also help out with some prep as needed.
It requires sometimes being the only cook, overseeing the café overnight and following a prep list keeping busy.
You must have the ability to work as a team player in a busy kitchen atmosphere, must have strong communication skills and be able to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
You should be energetic, have knowledge of food sanitation, be able to read and follow standardized recipes, have a professional appearance, dependable transportation, teachable attitude and a strong work ethic.
Qualifications
- Must pass a background check to be considered.
- Must pass drug screen.
- Basic knowledge of food and cooking techniques.
- Basic understanding of kitchen equipment including but not limited to fryers, ovens, grills, and dish machines.
- Desire to gain culinary knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards.
- Excellent knife skills and hospitality skills.
- Food preparation and presentation, including portion control.
- Assists in the adherence to maintaining budget compliance for daily food cost.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and kept clean at all times.
Requirements
- 2 years of cooking or restaurant experience.
- 2 years of prep cook experience.
- Receiving of product.
- Be energetic and enthusiastic.
- Be customer service oriented.
- Knowledge of HACCP and Food Code, Sanitation and Safety Procedures.
- ServSafe certified.
- Full understanding of proper food handling and sanitation standards.
