Job DescriptionJOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Medical Examiner – Forensic Pathology
• Job Type: Contract
• Location: Washington, DC
• Service Setting: FBI Offices and Medical Examiner Facilities
• Coverage Type: Clinical + Consultative Services
• Coverage Period: May 15, 2026 - Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Typically between 6:00a – 6:00p
• Core Working Hours: 9:00a – 3:00p
• Workload Expectation: Approximately 0.5 FTE (960 hours annually)

PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Child and Adult Death Investigations
• Case Mix: Forensic pathology consultation and death investigation support
• Scope of Services: Clinical pathology and forensic consultation services in support of FBI CIRG and BAU operations

FACILITY INFORMATION
• Agency Supported: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
• Division Support: Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) and Behavioral Analysis Units (BAUs)

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Background Investigation Required: Yes
• Security Clearance: Must be eligible to successfully pass federal background investigation
• Travel Requirements: National travel may be required

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Rate: TBD

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Child death investigations
• Adult death investigations
• Forensic pathology consultation
• Clinical pathology services
• Expert case review and analysis

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active and unrestricted U.S. medical license required
• Board Certification: Board Certified in Forensic Pathology and Anatomic Pathology
• Residency: Completion of pathology residency required
• Fellowship: Clinical or Forensic Pathology fellowship documentation required if applicable
• DEA: Required if applicable
• Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of forensic pathology experience required
• Other Qualifications:
• Expertise in pediatric and adult forensic investigations
• Strong written communication and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal and consultative skills
• Ability to support federal investigative operations

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide forensic pathology consultation services in support of FBI investigations
• Assist with child and adult death investigations nationwide
• Conduct expert clinical pathology analysis and reporting
• Collaborate with FBI CIRG and BAU teams
• Prepare written findings, presentations, and consultative recommendations
• Maintain compliance with all federal and professional standards
