About Us

AeroDef Precision is an aerospace-focused CNC machine shop in Denver, CO, dedicated to producing high-quality precision components for the aerospace and defense industries. We operate Haas VF-2SS, VF-6SS, and UMC-1000s and are rapidly scaling our capabilities. We’re looking for driven machinists who want to grow with us as we expand into complex 5-axis aerospace work.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Level 4 Machinist to join our team. This is a senior-level role, ideal for a highly skilled and independent machinist who can confidently run advanced setups, inspect critical aerospace parts, and help mentor junior machinists. The right candidate will have a deep understanding of CNC operations, GD&T, and quality standards, with the ability to keep jobs running smoothly and efficiently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (3-axis & 5-axis Haas VF/UMC series).

  • Perform complex multi-op setups and advanced workholding solutions.

  • Read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints and apply GD&T principles.

  • Make program edits and safe adjustments to G-code at the control.

  • Select proper tooling, monitor tool wear, and optimize tool life.

  • Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and CMM-prep.

  • Work with ERP (ProShop) to maintain accurate job documentation, travelers, and inspection records.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by reducing setup times and improving workflow.

  • Assist with mentoring and training of Level 1–3 machinists.

  • Maintain strict adherence to ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality standards.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of machining experience, including advanced setups.

  • Strong experience with Haas VF series and UMC 5-axis machines.

  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T.

  • Ability to perform intermediate-to-advanced program edits at the control.

  • Skilled in fixture setup, workholding, and multi-part runs.

  • Proficient with precision measurement tools; aerospace inspection experience a plus.

  • Familiarity with CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar) for verification and edits.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve complex machining problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with probing cycles (Renishaw macros, automatic work offset setup).

  • Aerospace machining experience with aluminum, titanium, or exotic alloys.

  • Exposure to CMM operation or first-article inspection processes.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Pay: $30 – $45 per hour (DOE)

  • Overtime opportunities

  • Paid time off and holidays

  • Benefits package coming soon

  • Signing bonus of up to $7,000

  • Career growth into Level 5 Machinist / Lead roles
