AeroDef Precision is an aerospace-focused CNC machine shop in Denver, CO, dedicated to producing high-quality precision components for the aerospace and defense industries. We operate Haas VF-2SS, VF-6SS, and UMC-1000s and are rapidly scaling our capabilities. We’re looking for driven machinists who want to grow with us as we expand into complex 5-axis aerospace work.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Level 4 Machinist to join our team. This is a senior-level role, ideal for a highly skilled and independent machinist who can confidently run advanced setups, inspect critical aerospace parts, and help mentor junior machinists. The right candidate will have a deep understanding of CNC operations, GD&T, and quality standards, with the ability to keep jobs running smoothly and efficiently with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines (3-axis & 5-axis Haas VF/UMC series).

Perform complex multi-op setups and advanced workholding solutions.

Read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints and apply GD&T principles.

Make program edits and safe adjustments to G-code at the control.

Select proper tooling, monitor tool wear, and optimize tool life.

Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and CMM-prep.

Work with ERP (ProShop) to maintain accurate job documentation, travelers, and inspection records.

Contribute to continuous improvement by reducing setup times and improving workflow.

Assist with mentoring and training of Level 1–3 machinists.

Maintain strict adherence to ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality standards.
Requirements

5–8 years of machining experience, including advanced setups.

Strong experience with Haas VF series and UMC 5-axis machines.

Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T.

Ability to perform intermediate-to-advanced program edits at the control.

Skilled in fixture setup, workholding, and multi-part runs.

Proficient with precision measurement tools; aerospace inspection experience a plus.

Familiarity with CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar) for verification and edits.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve complex machining problems.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with probing cycles (Renishaw macros, automatic work offset setup).

Aerospace machining experience with aluminum, titanium, or exotic alloys.

Exposure to CMM operation or first-article inspection processes.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement.
