Job Title: Escrow Officer

Department: Escrow

Company- Sioux Abstract Company - Orange City

Reports To: Market VP

Job Purpose:

Roles and Responsibilities: An Escrow Officer should be able to perform all duties related to the closing, from pre-close, closing preparation, presenting papers and post-closing. The primary role is listed in this description. However, an Escrow Officer is expected to uphold the Core Values in their actions and words which will extend beyond the description below.


  • Process real estate transactions, to include, but not limited to the following:
  • Enter in settlement figures from purchase agreements and lender instructions.
  • Ensure all the requirements for the Title Commitment are met
  • Obtain mortgage and judgement payoffs with lenders
  • Coordinate mortgage satisfactions
  • Coordinate with realtors to obtain specific information on the purchase agreement
  • Balance closing disclosure with lenders
  • Obtain deed for seller to sign
  • Follow protocols for re-verification of settlement numbers to reduce loss
  • Generate/print documents and checks for the closing transaction
  • Present papers and notarize documents in the closing office
  • Conduct the "Final Closing File Review"
  • Be the primary contact with customers which are: lenders, realtors, and their clients
  • Pull payoffs and deposits as required by post-closing work flow
  • Verify file balance and generate checks on refinance transactions
  • assist with other tasks as needed
