Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer with a strong background in CAD and drafting, particularly in the medical device industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing electrical and mechanical systems, with a proven history of designing injection molded parts. This role requires creativity in ideation and sketching, as well as proficiency in component and assembly modeling, drawing creation, and prototyping.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical and mechanical components using SolidWorks.
  • Develop injection molded parts, with experience in designing at least 10 parts and preferably over 50.
  • Create and refine product designs for capital electrical and mechanical systems such as infusion pumps, CT, MRI, X-Ray, ventilators, dialysis, and surgical equipment.
  • Design fixtures for test methods, lab equipment, and production/manufacturing.
  • Integrate electrical and mechanical components effectively.
  • Communicate concepts, ideas, and sketches clearly to engineers and technicians.
  • Draft and manage document change orders.

Essential Skills

  • CAD/drafting degree from a 2-year technical college.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience using SolidWorks.
  • 3+ years of relevant design experience.
  • SolidWorks and PDM proficiency.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Grand Avenue Software.
  • Familiarity with master reference geometry that links to multiple child parts.

Work Environment

This position is 100% on-site in a highly collaborative workspace. The successful candidate will work with four other members of the Mechanical Team and report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. The work environment includes access to a 3D printer for testing designs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maple Grove, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
