About the Role:
The Nurse Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of nursing staff within a healthcare facility, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position involves coordinating nursing activities, managing staff schedules, and serving as a liaison between nursing personnel and administration to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for mentoring and supporting Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and other nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. They also monitor patient care plans, assess clinical outcomes, and implement improvements to enhance patient safety and satisfaction. Ultimately, this role ensures that nursing services are delivered effectively, compassionately, and in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of LVN staff to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.
- Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with labor regulations.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to nursing staff to promote professional development and adherence to best practices.
- Monitor patient care plans and clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and administrative personnel, to optimize patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Conduct performance evaluations and participate in hiring decisions for nursing staff.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and facility policies.
- Respond promptly to patient and family concerns, facilitating resolution and maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience as an LPN or RN.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.
- Basic proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in nursing leadership or management (e.g., Nurse Manager Certification).
- Experience working in specialized care settings such as long-term care, rehabilitation, or acute care.
- Advanced training in patient safety, quality improvement, or infection control.
- Familiarity with healthcare accreditation standards such as Joint Commission or CMS guidelines.
- Proficiency in additional languages to support diverse patient populations.
