???? A Day in the Life of a Substitute Teacher

(Serving Midland & Odessa, TX)

As a substitute teacher, you’ll play a key role in keeping classrooms running smoothly and supporting student learning. You will:

• Work flexible days Monday–Friday with availability from 7:30 AM–4:30 PM

  • Half-day options available: 7:30 AM–12 PM or 12 PM–4:30 PM

• Follow and implement teacher-provided lesson plans for a cohesive learning experience

• Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment

• Adapt instruction based on the needs of diverse learners

• Supervise students throughout the day—in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and cafeterias

• Provide class assignments aligned with the lesson plan

• For long-term roles: collaborate with administrators and teachers to prepare and deliver instruction aligned to curriculum goals

???? Qualifications

(Odessa & Midland, TX)

Preferred but not required:

• Associate degree or 60+ college hours

• Bachelor’s degree or Texas teaching certification

• Previous substitute teaching experience

Required skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication

• Positive and professional interactions with students, parents, and staff

• Ability to lead, manage, and instruct students across all grade levels

• General knowledge of core subjects

• Ability to follow lesson plans and coordinate with admin when needed

• Flexibility, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills

• Dedication to maintaining a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment

• $90–$120 per day (based on education & certification)
