We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Medically clear clients for admission to residential treatment program, which includes conducting physical examinations, reviewing laboratory tests and discussing results with clients.
- Evaluate, assess, and provide proper dispositions for individuals with possible withdrawal syndrome.
- Provide medical consultation to client’s referred by New Direction Residential Treatment Program and Outpatient DATP program regarding current status recommendations pertaining to the physical and psychiatric health of clients.
- Supervisees, evaluates, and provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment for the adults in the New Direction Residential Treatment Program.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations for the new clients within 14 days from the date of admission for the New Direction Residential Treatment Program.
- Provide a written Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation report to be maintained in each client’s clinical record.
- Conduct psychiatric re-evaluations and follow ups, as necessary, for the clients at New Direction.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations for clients referred by the outpatient DATP program, as needed.
- Facilitate medication management for the clients residing at New Direction adult residential treatment program.
- Ensures the dispensing and storage of medications adhere to law, regulation, licensure and professional standards of practice.
- Maintain medical records in compliance with agency, Department of Children and Families and Medicaid standards and regulations.
- Consult with the Division Director, Psychologist and Supervisors regarding development of mental health treatment plans and psychotropic medication education plans.
- Supervise a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Orients new physicians and nurses to agency and facility guidelines regarding policies, procedures, practice and treatment of clients.
- On occasion, may administer tuberculin skin test in the absence of the nurse.
- Participate in weekly meetings with Psychologist and Division Director to evaluate and analyze emotional changes, and psychological or psychiatric symptoms presented by residents undergoing rehabilitation.
- Provide on-site peer review of medical records by conducting random medial record audits quarterly.
- Provide brief intervention psychotherapy (BIP), motivational enhancement therapy (MET), contingency management approach (CMA), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and other behavioral modification interventions to control drug cravings, prevent program abandonment and prevent drug relapse, as needed.
- Act as a member of New Direction Infection Control Committee.
- Consult with Division Director on matters related to Performance Improvement and program development.
