Job Description

The Bookkeeping Clerk plays a vital role within a small accounting team, managing accounts payable and general bookkeeping tasks to ensure accurate financial records. This position is responsible for processing vendor invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting month-end closing activities, while ensuring compliance with internal controls and streamlining processes for efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices and verify purchase orders, invoices, and payment requests
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments via checks, ACH, or online portals
  • Maintain vendor files and resolve discrepancies or inquiries
  • Categorize expenses and reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Assist with monthly closing tasks, journal entries, and financial reporting
  • Support account reconciliations and audit preparations
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
  • Process Payroll
  • Employee HR needs
  • Help streamline accounts payable and bookkeeping processes for greater efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping and accounts payable
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage50
  • Solid understanding of accounts payable workflows and general accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
