Location: Mini Scientist Academy / Mini Engineers Academy
Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Reports To: Center Director

Job Description

The Child Care Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children while supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Teachers plan and implement age-appropriate activities aligned with early childhood standards and the center’s STEM-focused curriculum. Teachers serve as positive role models and partners with families while maintaining compliance with Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, loving, and structured classroom environment

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans (literacy, math, science/engineering, art, and motor skills)

  • Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being

  • Support children’s social-emotional development using positive guidance strategies

  • Maintain accurate attendance, incident reports, and classroom documentation

  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding children’s daily activities and progress

  • Follow all Texas Minimum Standards, center policies, and health & safety procedures

  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization

  • Assist with diapering, potty training, feeding, and nap routines as required

  • Collaborate positively with co-teachers and administration

  • Participate in required training, staff meetings, and professional development

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Must meet Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children

  • Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills

  • Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor

Preferred Qualifications

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Early Childhood Education coursework

  • Previous experience working in a licensed child care center

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and classroom management

  • Experience with lesson planning and classroom routines

  • STEM/STEAM interest or experience (science, engineering, hands-on learning)

  • Familiarity with Texas Rising Star (TRS) standards (preferred, not required)

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Active classroom setting with children of varying developmental levels

  • Standing, bending, lifting, and movement throughout the day

  • Indoor and outdoor supervision required

  • Professional appearance and positive attitude expected at all times
