Summary:
Responsible for overseeing commercial construction projects from planning through completion, including managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, quality, and safety.
Key duties involve interpreting plans and specifications, coordinating logistics, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with building codes and legal requirements. The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and experience with construction management software to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Management: Develop project plans, set deadlines, and manage all project phases from conception to closeout.
- Budget & Cost Control: Monitor project costs, manage procurement of materials and equipment, and ensure projects remain within budget.
- Schedule Management: Oversee project schedules, coordinate subcontractors, and manage logistics to ensure timely completion.
- Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure projects meet quality standards and comply with building codes, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
- Team Leadership: Lead project teams, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors, and provide mentorship to field staff.
- Communication: Maintain regular and clear communication with clients, subcontractors, internal team members, and other stakeholders.
- Risk Management: Identify and respond to risks, delays, emergencies, and other problems that may arise during a project.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 10 years of building construction experience
- Environmental experience a plus
- Proven experience managing commercial or fast-track construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and subcontractor management.
- Proficiency in reading construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with project management software and reporting tools.
- A relevant bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is often preferred.
