A day in this role
You start on our 1st shift training schedule, Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., for up to six months. During this time, you’ll learn our procedures for production welding and precision repair on castings, dies, molds, fixtures, and shop tools—always aligned to customer specs and formal weld procedures. After training and qualification, you’ll move to either 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.) or 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.).
Compensation
- Starting pay: $27.07/hour
- After 12 months: $28.39/hour
What you’ll work on
- Perform TIG/GTAW repair and production welding on castings to Class A acceptance criteria, meeting FPI and X-Ray acceptance requirements.
- Handle occasional maintenance and fixture welding across multiple alloys, including aluminum.
- Fabricate and utilize copper backups to support welds as needed.
- Operate AC/DC power sources and all weld torch components required to complete assignments.
- Select appropriate weld wire alloy designations and diameters for each job.
- Set power source parameters and adjust gas flow for both the torch and backups.
- Blend welds to final condition for both repair and production weldments on castings.
- If serving in the weld blending function, prepare welds as needed.
- If serving in the weld blending function, perform finishing, rework, and metal cleaning associated with a Metal Cell Operator (MCO) as required.
Qualifications Basic
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least two (2) years of TIG welding experience.
Preferred
- Welding-focused vocational training.
- Manual GTAW proficiency using a remote foot control.
