Job Type: Full Time - Exempt
Annual Salary Range: $57,250 - $77,353
Summary:
The School Counselor supports students' academic, social, emotional, and career development by providing guidance and counseling services. Through collaboration with students, families, educators, and community resources, the School Counselor promotes a positive school environment that fosters student growth and success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students' emotional and social development.
- Develop and implement school-wide programs to address academic achievement, career planning, and personal/social development.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and provide appropriate interventions.
- Assist students in setting academic and career goals through regular check-ins and planning sessions.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to address academic and behavioral concerns.
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
- Develop and implement behavior management plans in collaboration with school staff.
- Lead student support team meetings and contribute to Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RtI) initiatives.
- Offer referrals to community resources and maintain partnerships with outside agencies.
- Support student transitions between school levels and assist with college and career planning.
- Promote a safe and inclusive school environment by implementing social-emotional learning programs.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions for students, staff, and parents on topics such as mental health awareness, conflict resolution, and study skills.
- Act as a liaison between the school, families, and community organizations.
Education and Licensure:
- Master's Degree in School Counseling or related field from an accredited university.
- Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Initial or Professional Special Services License with an endorsement in School Counseling.
Qualifications and Experience:
- One year of experience in a school setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of counseling techniques and evidence-based interventions.
- Experience working with diverse populations and providing culturally responsive counseling.
- Knowledge of the IEP and 504 Plan processes.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in data analysis and using data to inform decisions.
- Familiarity with career and college readiness programs.
