Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Field Supervisor to oversee wastewater treatment plant and lift station operations in Baytown, Texas. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, directing operations and maintenance activities, training personnel, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the efficient operation of critical public infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, demonstrated supervisory experience, and a commitment to operational excellence and environmental compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance activities in compliance with TCEQ and EPA requirements.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of City of Baytown lift stations.
  • Monitor plant performance and interpret laboratory data to support operational decisions.
  • Coordinate major repairs, equipment replacements, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Train, coach, and develop operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain operational records and documentation required by regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate activities associated with the State Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP).
  • Order parts and supplies and verify invoices for accuracy.
  • Review construction plans and infrastructure improvements to support operational efficiency.
  • Communicate operational activities and priorities with management and administrative staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Class B Wastewater Treatment Certification issued by TCEQ.
  • Minimum three years of relevant wastewater operations experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain a Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Class A Wastewater Treatment Certification issued by TCEQ.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment facility operations and maintenance.
  • Understanding of EPA and TCEQ regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Knowledge of activated sludge processes, chemistry, biology, and laboratory procedures related to wastewater treatment.
  • Ability to interpret technical reports, laboratory data, blueprints, and construction plans.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee development skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers, management, contractors, and the public.

Physical Requirements

This position requires medium physical work, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Additional Information

Attendance is an essential function of this position. Overtime may be required. This position supports critical public services and may be required to perform emergency response duties during severe weather events, emergencies, or evacuation situations.
