This Respiratory Therapist position is based in Gainesville, FL at a 523-bed acute care hospital that is Joint Commission accredited, certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and holds ACC accreditation as a Chest Pain Center. The hospital offers comprehensive cardiovascular care, oncology, orthopedics, neurosciences, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, bariatric surgery, and women's health services, and is designated a Blue Distinction Center for both Spine Surgery and Bariatric Surgery.
The role. Reporting within the Respiratory Therapy department, the Respiratory Therapist delivers, sets up, and maintains both routine and non-routine therapies and equipment — including oxygen, aerosol therapy, and mechanical ventilators — in accordance with physician orders and generally accepted respiratory care practices. The therapist performs and interprets Arterial Blood Gases and applies sound knowledge of medication dosages, side effects, and patient responses specific to respiratory care. Effective communication with physicians, patients, and care team members is central to daily work, as is the ability to assess and reassess patient status and provide instruction to others. The therapist is also responsible for recognizing and reporting signs of abuse or neglect in patients.
What we're looking for.
- Minimum 1 year of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) experience required, preferably in an ICU, CVICU, NICU, PICU, or other critical care setting; candidates with home care, long-term care, or CRT experience will also be considered
- Florida State Respiratory Therapy License
- NBRC RRT or CRT credential
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Schedule. Nights with rotating weekends.
Compensation. $2.00 - $3.00/hr plus SIGN ON: $20k (Nights Only) Relo: Case by case Shift Diffs: Nights - $4.25 Weekends - $3.00
