This role is responsible for ensuring the DataVista build remains on track, aligned with our clients strategic goals, and executed to modern engineering, security, and product standards.

The position serves as a central integrator across technology, data, and business stakeholders translating organizational priorities into executable product and delivery plans, while guiding internal and external engineering teams through a complex, multi-year platform transformation.

This role requires both hands-on technical fluency and senior-level product and delivery leadership, with an emphasis on clear communication, risk management, and strategic progress reporting to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Platform Leadership

· Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle for the DataVista build, from discovery and requirements through delivery, launch, and stabilization.

· Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our clients member-facing application ecosystem, including DASL, Market View, surveys, and related data products, and how they integrate into the broader DataVista platform.

· Partner closely with the clients Data and Engineering teams to ensure the platform’s architecture, data models, and analytics capabilities align with our clients data strategy and governance standards.

Delivery & Execution Management

· Develop and deploy delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies for the large-scale, multi-vendor software development effort.

· Ensure the DataVista build remains on schedule, within scope, and aligned with approved budgets and timelines.

· Establish and enforce delivery standards, quality gates, and acceptance criteria for engineering outputs.

Engineering & Vendor Management

· Provide guidance to contracted development teams, providing clear expectations, prioritization, and performance oversight.

· Evaluate and validate engineering deliverables.

· Serve as an alternate point of coordination between our clients leadership and external technology partners supporting the DataVista build.

Architecture, Security & Quality Oversight

· Contribute to the design and evolution of the DataVista platform, ensuring alignment with modern web application architectures and best practices.

· Maintain a strong working knowledge of modern web application frameworks and security standards, including OWASP and relevant ISO security frameworks, and ensure these standards are incorporated into design and delivery decisions.

· Partner with IT and Data leadership to ensure the platform meets our clients expectations for reliability, scalability, data protection, and compliance.

Executive Communication & Strategic Reporting

· Provide clear, concise, and strategic-level updates to executive leadership, translating complex technical progress into meaningful business and risk insights.

· Prepare briefings, dashboards, and status reports that support informed decision-making by senior leaders and, when needed, the Board.

· Proactively surface risks, tradeoffs, and resourcing needs, offering actionable recommendations.

Required Qualifications

· 7+ years of experience leading and managing complex software development projects, preferably enterprise-scale or mission-critical platforms.

· 5+ years of experience managing engineering personnel and/or contracted development teams.

· 2–3 years of hands-on experience working with modern web application development frameworks (direct coding not required, but technical fluency is essential).

· Demonstrated understanding of modern web application architecture, secure development practices, and industry standards, including OWASP and applicable ISO security frameworks.

· Proven ability to operate effectively in environments with multiple executive stakeholders and dotted-line reporting relationships.

· Strong communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and translating technical concepts into business-relevant insights.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience leading platform builds or major system modernizations involving legacy systems.

· Background working with data-intensive or analytics-driven products.

· Experience partnering with UX, data, and product strategy teams to translate user research into delivery plans.

· Familiarity with nonprofit, education, or membership-based organizations.

Why This Role Matters

The Senior Product Development Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the DataVista build is delivered with discipline, clarity, and long-term sustainability, positioning our client for continued leadership in data-driven insight for independent schools.
