Core Functions:
- Assist in planning and setting goals and objectives for the future of the Learning Resource Center (LRC).
- Coordinate LRC goals and objectives with those of RMU and other departments.
- Conduct research, user surveys, focus groups, or benchmarking studies to determine the products and services the LRC will offer and their effectiveness.s
- Attend conferences, workshops, seminars, and classes to maintain knowledge of changing technologies and developments in the health care, academic, and information industries. AHIP certificate is encouraged but not required
- Participate in setting schedules, daily priorities, adhering to standards, and achieving goals.
- Prepare statistics and resource overviews for accreditation visits by ACOE.
- Promote the LRC and its services, including publications, programming, and public relations.
- Participate in local, state, and national policy-making forums and advisory groups.
- Provide proactive customer-oriented services. This responsibility includes activities such as reference/research services, helping students and faculty access resources, and ordering textbooks.
- Coordinate developing and applying LRC technology, including selecting, designing, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring computer equipment and software.
- Design and implement automated systems for resource collection, management, and access that are responsive to the goals of RMU
- Regularly assist in the evaluation and adjustments in automation requirements for the LRC
- Train users and LRC personnel in the use of new LRC technology and provide documentation, manuals, and guides
Background/Expertise:
- Master of Library Science (MLS) degree is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of and experience in the use of medical information resources are required.
- Previous experience with interlibrary loan and document delivery, Docline, and OCLC WorldShare ILL.
- Must be highly detail-oriented and have computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, MS Teams, and Google Drive. Knowledge of Canvas, WordPress, LibGuides, and OCLC Discovery Services would be beneficial.
- Have knowledge of student software systems and computer-aided instruction
- Able to travel to campus and flexible to work evenings and/or weekends as required. This is primarily an onsite position.
- Reference and collection development experience in a medical library.
- Coursework or experience with information literacy instruction, familiarity with instructional design, or online learning.
