Job Summary: Preserve the credit union’s assets by collecting and finding resolutions to delinquent loan payments and providing administrative support to the department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail, takes appropriate action to bring current.
• Recommends solutions to help members bring accounts current including loan modifications, special programs, and refers members to credit counseling services.
• Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers, takes action to repossess collateral when arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
• Validate bankruptcy notifications, set up accounts in debt management systems, and monitor debtor adherence to court-ordered plans.
• Prepare and file Proof of Claims, Motions for Relief from Stay, and objections to bankruptcy plans.
• Coordinate with external agents to repossess collateral (vehicles, equipment), arrange for storage, and manage the sale at auction.
• Determine collateral value, set floor prices, and handle deficiency balances post-sale.
• Ensure all actions strictly adhere to federal and state regulations, including FDCPA, TCPA, and FCRA.
• Use credit bureau data, skip tracing, internet searches and other tools to try to locate members who have moved or changed phone numbers.
• Attend and manage litigation meetings.
• Local travel to do collateral assessments.

Job Requirements:
- Two to five years’ experience in collections with background in bankruptcy and repossession.
- Bachelor’s’ degree preferred.
- Understanding of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.
- Excellent communications skills and strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment: May lift up to 25 lbs.; Office work- must be able to use a PC and phone; hearing and sight are required to perform this job; may need to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer.
