Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Deliver specialized nursing care in a challenging Stepdown/PCU Neuro unit that focuses on patients with complex neurological conditions. This role emphasizes critical thinking, assessment, and care coordination within a dynamic interdisciplinary team. Candidates must hold relevant certifications and exhibit strong clinical judgment to manage high-acuity patients in a supported environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop evidence-based care plans specific to neurocritical and stepdown patients
  • Administer medications safely and in accordance with state and facility protocols
  • Coordinate care effectively with interdisciplinary teams and act as the patient advocate
  • Manage acute neurological conditions including multi-system organ failure and trauma care
  • Utilize clinical judgment to respond promptly to changing patient status
  • Support patients and families through education and coping strategies
  • Adhere to professional nursing models and facility policies in delivering care

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current RN license in a compact state or the state of employment (required)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certification (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year RN experience with neuro care or related acute care experience preferred
  • Critical care or progressive care certification (CCR or PCCN) advantageous
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient-centered approach
  • Ability to manage high patient ratios and critical neurological monitoring and interventions

Work Schedule & Contract Details:

  • 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend and holiday
  • Contract position with potential extension opportunities

Physical Demands & Conditions:
Role involves physical activity including frequent lifting, stooping, and walking, with exposure to stressful clinical situations and potential hazards, requiring adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment usage.
