Ready to lead change on a national level?

If you’re a strategic, heart-centered leader passionate about transforming systems and advancing trauma-informed policy, Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice (CTIPP) invites you to step into your next level of impact as our Executive Director. You’ll guide a respected national nonprofit, shape advocacy at the highest levels, and champion a movement rooted in equity, healing, and resilience.

Primarily Work-from-Home | Washington, D.C. Metro Area Required (or Willing to Relocate) | Full-Time | Salary $100,000 to $125,000 annually

ABOUT CTIPP

The Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice (CTIPP) is a national nonprofit advancing trauma-informed, healing-centered, and equitable approaches across public policy, systems, and communities. CTIPP connects research, policy, and lived experience to build a culture of healing, justice, and resilience throughout the United States.

ABOUT THE ROLE

CTIPP seeks a visionary, emotionally intelligent, and strategic Executive Director (ED) to lead its next phase of growth toward a $750k+ organizational budget and expanded national impact.

As CTIPP’s second Executive Director, this leader will partner closely with the current ED during a structured transition period to ensure knowledge transfer, continuity, and momentum.

Reporting to the Board Chair and collaborating with the Board of Directors, the ED will oversee strategy, fundraising, operations, and coalition growth. The ideal candidate is a grounded, inclusive, and nonpartisan leader who balances visionary thinking with disciplined management and authentic connection to CTIPP’s trauma-informed mission.

WHAT YOU’LL LEAD AND INFLUENCE

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth

  • Champion CTIPP’s mission through trauma-informed and ABDEIJ (Accessibility, Belonging, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) principles.
  • Translate the Board’s strategic vision into annual goals, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and accountability.
  • Manage planning, operations, and technology systems to strengthen transparency and efficiency.
  • Nurture a culture of trust, inclusion, and wellbeing grounded in trauma-informed leadership.

Fundraising & Resource Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that grows annual revenue toward $750k+ through grants, partnerships, and diversified funding.
  • Build and sustain relationships with foundations, corporations, small businesses, and individual supporters.
  • Lead donor cultivation, stewardship, and engagement activities that amplify CTIPP’s mission.
  • Partner with the Board and key champions to secure multi-year funding and long-term stability.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Oversee budget development, financial management, and fiscal accountability, ensuring integrity and compliance.
  • Provide monthly progress and financial reports to the Board and Executive Committee.
  • Work with the Treasurer and accounting team to maintain transparent reporting and sound internal controls.
  • Approve contracts and agreements consistent with organizational priorities and nonprofit standards.
  • Ensure all operations support remote productivity, including maintaining a functional home office and reliable high-speed internet.

Advocacy, Policy & Coalition Building

  • Serve as CTIPP’s lead advocate, educator, and convener for trauma-informed and healing-centered policies.
  • Expand advocacy coalitions across multiple states into a cohesive national movement.
  • Represent CTIPP at national convenings and policy forums, including on Capitol Hill, to advance federal and state trauma-informed initiatives.
  • Partner with policymakers, community advocates, and cross-sector leaders to inform and advance equitable, nonpartisan public policy.

Board Relations & Governance

  • Serve as the primary liaison between CTIPP staff and the Board of Directors.
  • Provide monthly reports and performance updates, contributing to data-driven strategic discussions.
  • Attend and actively participate in Board and committee meetings to ensure alignment between mission, governance, and operations.
  • Support Board recruitment, orientation, and engagement to strengthen governance and fundraising capacity.

Communications & Public Engagement

  • Serve as CTIPP’s national spokesperson and ambassador to external audiences.
  • Elevate CTIPP’s visibility through storytelling, public speaking, and written communications that articulate complex ideas clearly and compellingly.
  • Develop high-quality written materials—including reports, policy briefs, and publications—that reflect CTIPP’s expertise and influence.
  • Communicate trauma-informed principles and advocacy goals with clarity, compassion, and impact.

Impact Priorities (First 12–18 Months)

  • Implement a multi-tiered fundraising plan that positions CTIPP for $750k+ annual revenue.
  • Strengthen internal systems, accountability structures, and staff performance goals.
  • Expand partnerships and advocacy coalitions across multiple states.
  • Build a trauma-informed workplace culture that embodies ABDEIJ values.
  • Establish consistent communication and trust with the Board through regular reporting and progress check-ins.
  • Lead a seamless transition from the current ED, ensuring continuity and organizational momentum.
