Location: Paramus, NJ

Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:30 am-6:30 pm

As an Infant/Toddler Co-Teacher at an Apple Montessori School you will guide both parents and infants/toddlers on their journey through developmental milestones. Our Co-Teachers provide love, support and encouragement as the infants grow and interact with their world. Co-Teachers have the rewarding job of providing the infants/toddlers with the sense of warmth and security that encourages them to explore and try new things.

As a member of our teaching team, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure children are supervised at all times, working with the Head Teacher
  • Serve as a back up to Head Teacher covering maternity, sick, and personal leave to facilitate a faster learning curve.
  • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program.
  • Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.
  • Conduct activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.
  • Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.
  • Establish routines and provide positive guidance.
  • Encourages students’ positive self-image and supports individuality, independence, and creative expression.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
  • Facilitate FasTracKids program with all enrolled students.
  • Maintains accurate and timely educational assessments and progress notes for all assigned students.
  • Maintains ratios at all times, keeps attendance records of children throughout the day.
  • Train and supervise teacher assistant and teacher in training within the classroom.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
  • Ensure equipment and the facility is clean, well maintained and safe at all times.
  • Maintain communication with parents of their child’s progress.
  • Maintain demonstration logs and lessons.
  • Assist in planning school wide events and curriculum.
  • Create and update games and workshops.
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences throughout the school year to discuss the child’s progress.
  • Attend four Saturday and four weekday Teacher in-service days throughout the school year.
  • Attend all weekly staff meetings and weekly teacher curriculum meetings.
  • Participate in Mentor/Mentee program and training program.
  • Maintains confidential student, parent and/or school information in accordance to company policies.
  • Performs all such related and non-related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent or CDA Certification.
  • Must complete Montessori Certification during first year of employment.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and AED certified.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to initiate and maintain working relationships with all levels of staff.
  • English literate.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task in a classroom setting.

Final compensation is determined based on a combination of factors; including years of experience in a similar role, relevant certifications and/or credentials, and the size and/or geographic location of the school.
