Position Overview

Office & Facilities Assistant (32BJ Union – Other Classification)

We are seeking a dependable and service-minded Office & Facilities Assistant to support the cleanliness, functionality, and overall experience of our corporate headquarters. This hybrid role is equally responsible for maintaining high- level of cleanliness and hospitality throughout the office and ensuring a reliable front desk and package room coverage. Classified under the "Other" category of the 32BJ Commercial Building Agreement, this position plays a vital role in upholding both the physical environment and service expectations of our workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Services

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of shared spaces, workstations, restrooms, kitchens, conference rooms, and communal areas.
  • Remove trash and recyclables and ensure compliance with building waste disposal protocols.
  • Restock pantry supplies (e.g., beverages, paper goods, utensils) and maintain kitchen and appliance cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist with general building tasks such as light furniture moves, meeting room setup, and supply restocking.

Front Desk/Concierge Support

  • Provide professional coverage at the front desk when needed, including greeting visitors, granting access, answering phones, and coordinating with building staff.
  • Accept and distribute packages; notify recipients promptly and manage secure storage of deliveries.
  • Act as a visible, responsive resource for colleagues and guests, creating positive and efficient office experience.

Physical & Workplace Requirements

  • Must be on-site during scheduled hours, from 11am to 8pm Monday through Friday and able to stand, sit, walk, and move throughout the office while performing all job including the ability to lift or move objects exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Functions (mopping, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, etc.,) freely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Weekend work is rare but may happen occasionally.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, workplace safety, and building compliance protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; prior experience in building services, hospitality, or a strongly preferred related role.
  • Experience in cleaning and maintaining office environments, including restrooms, kitchens, and high-touch areas, with a strong understanding of proper sanitation practices and safe use of various cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Must be tech savvy and PC proficient. Prior experience utilizing building access systems, phones, computers, and related front desk and package handling systems.
  • Familiarity with basic safety and building security protocols; active NYS Security Guard License is a plus.

Hourly pay range: $23.2298 - $30.9730
