Scientist / Senior Scientist, Assay Development
Job Description
Job Description
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Scientist/Senior Scientist in Assay Development. This individual will play a critical role in developing and commercializing protein assay kits. While direct experience in assay development is highly valued, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly and independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the development of bead-based immunoassay kits across the product lifecycle—from feasibility and optimization through verification, validation, and commercialization.
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments involving antibody selection, reagent conjugation, buffer/diluent optimization, and validation across complex biological matrices (e.g., plasma, serum).
- Formulate and optimize buffers/diluents to mitigate matrix effects and improve assay sensitivity, specificity, and robustness.
- Continuously improve assay performance by enhancing sensitivity, dynamic range, reproducibility, and robustness.
- Establish procedures and quality control processes for manufacturing reagents products.
- Accurately document experimental procedures and results in compliance with ISO and good documentation practices.
- Support customer collaborations by analyzing data, writing reports, and presenting findings.
Qualifications
Required
- MS or PhD in life science or related field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, bioengineering).
- 3+ years of experience in assay development in a commercial or translational research setting.
- Strong foundation in immunoassays or bioanalytical methods (e.g., ELISA, bead-based assays, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, troubleshoot complex problems, and pay close attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory protocols such as ELISA design, optimization, or related immunoassay workflows.
- Experience in addressing matrix effects in biological samples by designing or formulating buffers/diluents.
- Strong motivation to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and methods.
- Excellent organizational skills with clear, concise communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred
- Expertise in protein chemistry, conjugation methods, and buffer formulation.
- Experience with microparticle-based immunoassays and/or ultrasensitive platform.
- Familiarity with sourcing, evaluating, and working with antibodies and other critical reagents.
- Track record of successful assay optimization for sensitivity and robustness in complex biological samples.
