JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use laser trackers and portable 3D metrology equipment to perform precision alignments and dimensional inspections on components ranging from small parts to full-scale assemblies
- Execute metrology tasks independently and collaboratively following established metrology plans and guidance from senior staff
- Optimize measurement efficiency using best practices and logical sequencing for 3D metrology workflows
- Maintain organized datasets and documentation for traceability and project-wide accessibility
- Evaluate measurement uncertainty and ensure accuracy of inspection results
- Analyze metrology data and clearly communicate findings to stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and resolve misalignment issues by developing and executing corrective workflows
- Maintain and care for metrology equipment to ensure accuracy and operability
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to interpret requirements and develop metrology solutions
- Support production data analysis and assist with non-metrology assembly activities as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience using laser trackers and non-contact laser line scanners
- 2+ years of experience using SpatialAnalyzer software for 3D data collection and analysis
- 2+ years of metrology experience in a manufacturing or job site environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, climbing, and working in confined spaces
- Willingness to work at heights and in industrial environments
- Flexibility to travel or work nights/weekends as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
- Hands-on experience with portable 3D metrology tools and large-scale alignment projects
- Experience inspecting complex geometries and free-form surfaces using non-contact scanning
- Knowledge of large metrology control networks and multi-instrument setups
- Experience aligning large, complex structures in tight or constrained environments
- Ability to interpret CAD models (NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) for inspection and alignment tasks
- Intermediate understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Experience working on cross-functional teams in engineering or manufacturing settings
PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in large-scale, high-precision industrial or energy projects
- Familiarity with fusion, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to balance precision requirements with aggressive project timelines
- Experience supporting assembly or production environments beyond metrology
