A registered nurse opportunity is available in Olathe, KS, focusing on medical-surgical care within an acute care hospital environment. This contract role involves working 12-hour night shifts, providing critical nursing services to patients across various specialties including general surgery, bariatrics, gynecology, urology, and orthopedics.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with diverse medical diagnoses such as cellulitis, back pain, and kidney stones.
- Manage intravenous therapies including Heparin drips, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), and Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA).
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms accurately.
- Float flexibly to support all acute care units.
- Comply with holiday and weekend scheduling requirements, ensuring continuous patient care.
- Participate in a multi-day orientation comprising clinical training and virtual electronic medical record (EMR) system instruction.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience within the last 18 months in a hospital medical-surgical setting.
- Proven competence in managing patients post-general surgery and in specialties such as bariatrics, gynecology, urology, and orthopedics.
- Skilled in handling medical diagnoses including cellulitis, back pain, and kidney stones.
- Experience with heparin drips, TPN, PCAs, and telemetry rhythm interpretation.
- Current Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) or Compact RN license.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
