Restorative Nursing Assistant
This person will be responsible for delivering rehabilitative and therapeutic services by licensed medical staff and in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations and licensing requirements. Assists residents to achieve or maintain their highest practicable level of ADL function through consistent, structured and controlled re-teaching and retraining techniques to promote increased participation in activities of daily living.

Responsibilities
- Provides restorative nursing tasks such as ambulation, range of motion, positioning, self-feeding, etc. within the scope of the training; Utilizes restorative techniques including verbal cueing, task sequencing, hand over hand, prompting, guarding, etc.; Promotes greatest degree of independence possible for residents.
- Assists residents with their physical needs including eating, bowel, and bladder training, and assistance following incontinence but encourages residents to perform these functions themselves to their capacity or ability; Participates actively in retraining programs for these functions.
- Observes and reports on resident’s conditions and documents observations as required. Contributes knowledge of the resident’s conditions/needs to resident care plans; Documents restorative exercises and weekly summaries as required.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of therapy area and equipment. Assures that equipment is clean and functional.
- Assists with lifting, positioning and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., in keeping with specific resident safety needs; Assists residents in preparation for and transporting to appointments, activities and social programs
- Participate in meal service including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining room; Assures that residents are positioned appropriately for meals; Assures that appropriate utensils are within reach of residents; Serves food trays and assists with feeding as indicated; Delivers and documents all a.m., p.m., and bedtime snacks and supplements; Provides hydration to all residents according to center policy.
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification in the state of practice, required.
- Successful completion of state approved Restorative Nurse Assistant Training Program; Name must appear on State Registry as Nurse Aide in good standing.
- Prior experience as Restorative Nursing Assistant in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification (All SNFs; ALFs as required by state).
