Job Description
We are currently assisting our client, a global leader in their industry, with an Automation Engineer search located in Henry County, Iowa. This role supports the design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automation and control systems within a manufacturing environment. The position works closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to maintain and enhance equipment performance, minimize downtime, and support new system implementations while adhering to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with programming, configuring, and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs and HMIs for mixing and compounding equipment.
- Support troubleshooting of control systems, drives, and instrumentation to reduce downtime.
- Maintain and update control system documentation, including programs and wiring diagrams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Support implementation of automation systems, including FactoryTalk and other software platforms.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, training maintenance staff, and supporting programs such as TPOC, Gemba, and 5S.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, controls, mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with control systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of PLCs (Siemens and Allen-Bradley), electrical schematics, and industrial networks.
- Strong communication skills, willingness to learn, and ability to support flexible schedules, including nights or weekends as needed.
